Distribution of New Year’s Gift Packages

The time of holiday gift-giving is the right time to ask ourselves: what is it within us that inspires us with such joy when we give and receive gifts? The noun gift is derived from the reflexive verb “to bow” with the meaning – to bow one’s head as a sign of respect before someone. By bowing, making bows, or showing honor to someone, we make them greater than us. Is there anything that can elevate a person more?

Christmas gifts are traditionally brought to children by Christmas Father, as Saint Nicholas is also called, the protector of children, and he places them under the decorated fir tree. That’s why we decorate the fir tree for Christmas. According to one of the earliest traditions, this custom dates back to the time when Saint Boniface saved the life of a child whom pagans intended to sacrifice by striking down with his fist the oak tree around which they had gathered. In that place, a fir tree sprouted as a symbol of eternal life. In that spirit, the director of the Private Gymnasium “Antoni MP Barili”, Tatjana Ristić, organized a wonderful holiday gathering for the children of the professors on Materice.

There were beautiful gifts and even more beautiful looks, hugs and words. Gathered around the indispensable fir tree, all woven from light, with the crackling of the fireplace, children’s smiles radiated. A precious gift from the little ones to the grown-ups.
