THE GOAL OF THE PHILOLOGY GYMNASIUM PROGRAM
The Philology Gymnasium is specialized in learning foreign languages. Its emphasis is on learning grammar and expanding vocabulary, which are complemented by language workshops during which students do listening, communication, writing, translation - simultaneous and consecutive exercises.
Class activities are authentic and reflect real-life situations and requirements. Our goal is to educate and nurture students to become free and creative individuals with pronounced linguistic competencies.
In addition to learning languages, students' knowledge is enriched by getting acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the people whose language is being learned.
The basic method of teaching is the communicative approach, which includes social functions in addition to linguistic structures.
We especially emphasize the importance of understanding the communication process in general and translation in particular. We believe that it is important for students to develop a general culture and the ability to speak, argue and draw correct conclusions.
Our students continuously deepen their language knowledge and skills, learn about the civilizations, cultures and literature of the countries whose language they learn, while nurturing a spirit of tolerance.
Our professional educational team is very competent and motivated to successfully achieve all educational goals.
Mentoring gives each student the opportunity to master the chosen foreign language in a quality and continuous manner.
Classes take place in a modernly equipped language lab.
ADVANTAGES OF ENROLLING IN OUR SCHOOL
Classes take place in small groups, which enables an individual approach to each student, a quality teaching process and interaction, discipline, a pleasant atmosphere during work, as well as the application of a large number of teaching methods.
In order to facilitate the integration of new students, the school has introduced a specially designed program of introduction to classes, focused on the development of social literacy, general awareness and school skills.
By regularly holding workshops, the teaching process is approached in a creative and fun way, which encourages enthusiasm, creativity and self-awareness among students. In addition to enriching teaching, workshops develop necessary life skills in children that are imperative for the modern way of life.
Our goal is to develop work habits, cooperativeness, tolerance, critical thinking, creativity and practical application of acquired knowledge in students through individual and group work.
Students acquire language competencies in their mother tongue and a foreign language, basic competencies in the field of science and technology, become digitally literate, acquire skills for successful learning and living, and develop their artistic potentials and affinities.
During all years of schooling, we help them to better define their professional orientation and to make correct decisions about the choice of further education and occupation, as well as the quality of their entire life.
Through our education formula (school, parent, teacher, student), students achieve intellectual, emotional, physical, moral and social maturity - they develop into happy and successful young people.
We encourage students to develop ecological awareness, humanity and nurturing good and constructive interpersonal relations. We help develop their personal and national identity while encouraging multiculturalism and acceptance of racial, national, cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, sexual and age diversity.
We enable students to acquire and integrate knowledge from natural and social sciences, which, in addition to general education, enables them to enroll in all faculties in the country and abroad.
Our professional educational team is competent and motivated to achieve educational goals. We nurture a spirit of cooperation and believe in the achievements that result from teamwork and good synergy between students, parents and school employees.
VISITING PROFESSORS FROM ABROAD
Work with visiting professors from abroad is provided throughout the school year.
We also offer an additional choice of foreign languages such as Chinese, Arabic, Russian or some other language of the students’ choice if there are enough interested.
CERTIFICATES AND INTERNSHIPS
Students are trained to take exams and obtain certificates in some of the eminent language centers. They are provided with internships in translation centers and foreign language schools.

STUDENT EXCHANGE
In cooperation with the embassies in our country, we organize student exchanges, which enable them to further improve the foreign language knowledge acquired in our school by staying abroad and thereby raise their language competencies to a higher level. A special benefit for students of the Philology Gymnasium is that they have the opportunity to simultaneously attend the IT Gymnasium for computer science and informatics, which raises their linguistic competence to a higher level, which enables them to successfully follow modern trends in education.
How to Enroll in the Philology Major?
Enrollment in the philology major involves taking an entrance exam, which assesses knowledge of the mother tongue and a foreign language. This selection ensures that students of a similar level of ability and interest gather in the class, which enables better quality work and faster progress. The maximum number of students in the class is 16.
Exams are taken in May of the current school year, in order to reserve a place in the class on time, and the date is announced on the school’s website.
A student can enroll during the school year, as well as in higher grades, with the condition of taking an entrance exam in order to assess the level of language knowledge. This also applies to foreign citizens. It is necessary to pass supplementary exams if coming from another gymnasium major (general, social-linguistic and other majors).
If a student realizes at some point during schooling that they are not interested in this major, there is a possibility of transferring to the general major with the passing of supplementary subjects.
